A fabulous carved coral set from the Victorian (ca1880) time period. Each piece represents Dionysus, the Greek God of wine. Each part is intricately hand carved with stunning detail and set in 10kt yellow gold.
The large pin, which can also be worn as a pendant, has the cameo face of Dionysus with gorgeous, luscious grapes and leaves surrounding the face. Dangling from the base are three carved coral bars of more grapes and leaves. On the back of the pin is a secure clasp which is stamped "10K" and also a good sized bail for a chain.
The earrings, which have 15kt gold wire hooks, also have the face of Dionysus with three coral bars dangling from the faces. There is a single coral ball at the base of each of the earring hook. The coral bars swing freely from the earrings and the base of the pin.? It is a marvelous and unusual piece that would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pin/pendant measures slightly less than 3" tall, 1 1/4" at the widest point and 1/2" at the thickest point. The earrings measure slightly less than 2 3/4" tall from the top of the coral ball to the bottom of the center coral bar. They are approximately 3/4" at the widest point and 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition:?The overall condition of the pin/pendant and earrings is excellent. The clasp of the pin is secure and in good working condition and as far as I can tell, there is no apparent dammage to the coral or metal.
